The No Kill Companion is a reference manual for legislators, policymakers, shelter managers, media, advocates, and other stakeholders. With short encyclopedia-like entries, it covers the definition of No Kill, its history, opposition, challenges, controversies, threats to No Kill success, the state of the movement, costs and benefits of No Kill animal control, model legislation, shelter assessment tools, a glossary, and a primer on various sheltering issues, including temperament testing, community cats, and more.
It is meant to be a definitive guide to animal shelter issues and will be soon available for sale in packs of 10 to give to legislators and other policymakers.
There are three ways to get a copy:
We offer traditional journalists who write about animal issues in the mainstream media one free copy. If you or someone in your community writes about animal shelters and similar issues in your hometown newspaper, television, or magazine, send us a link to an article with a byline and a mailing address, and we’ll send a courtesy copy.
We offer one free copy to patron-level donors of The No Kill Advocacy Center. Become a Patron and send us your mailing address, and we’ll send a courtesy copy. Since The No Kill Companion will be revised annually, we will send Patrons in good standing a courtesy copy of the new edition yearly.
The No Kill Companion goes on sale to the general public in April or May. We will post a link when it becomes available.
Donors receive No Kill Sheltering, our magazine for saving lives.
